Hilary Foss passed away November 27, 2017 at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle after bravely battling leiomyosarcoma for 5 years.
She was born Hilary Holman Janes on November 8, 1954 in Portland, Oregon, and spent most of her adult life in Cle Elum, Washington in 1979, where she lived and raised a family. Her passions included gardening, crafts, friends, family, travel, and the out-of-doors. She also served the community in many capacities, including as coordinator of the Master Gardener program for Kittitas County, Washington .
Hilary is survived by her husband Tim, and sister Katie, both of Cle Elum; her son Justin, of Seattle; daughter Erica, currently in Philadelphia; and her mother Diane, of Portland.
Her family extends our heartfelt thanks to all her friends, her fellow cancer warriors, and everyone working so hard with Northwest Sarcoma Foundation , NLMSF , LMSdr , SFA , and many other organizations. We also give a very special shout-out to Drs. Seth Pollack and Robin Jones along with all other the dedicated professionals at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. They not only helped her get the best, most cutting-edge medical care possible, but gave her hope and support all the way through her journey.
Hilary participated in several clinical trials and always said that no matter how thing turned out, she was proud to have added to the body of knowledge so that eventually this nasty disease can be cured.
She was also proud to participate in the Dragonslayer walk each spring with her “Cle Elum Collies” team to help support others battling the dragon. Her family plans to continue this tradition. An informal memorial will be held at her home in Spring 2018.
