Dragonslayer Portland Recap 2014

DS logo - no tagline

Saturday, September 13th was a beautiful day at Cook Park in Tigard, Oregon. The sun was shining on over 420 amazing Dragonslayers who joined together in support of all affected by sarcoma cancer to share a heartwarming and inspiring day. We cheered our survivors, encouraged those battling, and honored those we have lost by blowing kisses to Heaven in shiny bubbles. We enjoyed music, treats, the excitement of a raffle, and walked the beautiful 5K route to express our love and support.

Nathalie of Team Kick ASPS shared her beautiful smile and thoughts, available here for anyone who was unable to attend, en route to leading her team to a win in the Team Spirit competition. Meanwhile Team Sam, lead by the ever-encouraging Sam Day, edged out its perennial opponent--Team Brad--for the Largest Team award; while an impressive Team Brad took home the Danny Keagbine award for the team that raised the most money ($5,000+ in honor of the much loved and greatly missed Brad).

Although it is primarily a community walk to empower and join everyone in this shared fight, Dragonslayer PDX also helps raise money to fund the foundation’s mission, including programs such as need-based financial assistance for patients, and sarcoma research. Because of the contributions of many, we were able to bring in nearly $30,000 in much-needed support for this very worthwhile cause.

Thank you to each and every one who walked virtually, walked at the event, donated to a team, volunteered in some way, or sponsored this event with your money or services. This was truly a team effort—a Dragonslayer team!
